Style Tip: Ditch The Blouse and Sport A Tee Instead

Style Tip: Ditch The Blouse and Sport A Tee Instead

The effortless vibes that the casual tee imparts makes it a consitent wardrobe staple. However, in 2017, the comfortable garment will not just be reserved for weekend wear or off-duty style.

You’ve probably already seen a rise in the new mix of glam meets casual, but as we progress into the new year, you’ll be seeing a lot more of it. The twist will be that words and slogans, such as “Love” or “We Should All Be Feminists,” will be splashed across the front. I recently sported this casually glam combination during a trip down in Miami. Since I had been invited to several events, late-evening birthday dinners, and after-hour lounges, I knew the slogan tee (here) was making the flight with me seconds after laying eyes on it. The same was true for the ruffled mini (here).

However, what I didn’t think of right out the gate was styling this combo. I had brought the tee to wear with jean shorts during the day and had packed a silk, black blouse for pairing with the shiny, black mini. After feeling too overdone in the all black blouse and skirt ensemble, it came to me to swap out the sophisticated blouse for the laid-back tee. Instantly, I felt better about hopping from place to place, as I’d be so much more comfortable and wouldn’t look like I had spent an hour destroying my hotel room.

Below, you can see more of my lessons learned and how I took the casually glam look to the next level by adding a small pop of animal print. You’ll also find a few of my current favorite tees that are perfect for layering now, as well as mixing into your wardrobe this spring.
