NYFW: Shows + What I Wore (Part 2:3)

9:00 am – Nanushka FW19 Presentation

I had the opportunity to be introduced to this fashion house for the modern human last year. Since then, I’ve been obsessively watching as Nanushka‘s contemporary garments, designed by Sandra Sandor, have not-so-slowly began to gain more and more notoriety. Buyers, editors, fashion directors, and influencers have all taken notice of these Budapest-based fashions, especially those made of vegan leather.

Subsequently, it came as no surprise when the sprawling event space for the Nanushka FW19 presentation was packed with top-tier industry folk (most were draped in at least one of the brand’s versatile designs, as true fans do). I too sported a Nanushka puffer while roaming the welcoming rooms and marveling at the informal form of beauty before me.

Nanushka designs are not meant to be in your face. Instead, they celebrate trends in a subdued manner. They also explore the relationship between woman and man using the equal appearance of masculine and feminine silhouettes to outline the bond between genders.

As to additionally delight, these fashions aren’t strictly meant for the day or for the night. Yet, are fluid and sensible. For this, plus being moderately priced, you may not want to watch the rise of Nanushka from too far away.

#WhatIWore

I am all about upping the layering game during winter, especially when I’m out running the streets all day and night.

To beat those chilly morning temps, I bundled up by topping a military-inspired jacket by Chelsea and Walker with the style set’s favorite vegan leather puffer by Nanushka. There’s something about a modern twist, like wearing a heritage design with streetwear, which gives me the courage to face a long day.

I also wore my favorite high-waisted trousers and cowboy boots… again. Thus, committing the ultimate fashion week crime of repeating items. Clearly, my attitude while rushing to get out of the door was one of zero F’s given, which I’m still completely okay with it.

Below, you can see some of my favorite vegan leather goods by Nanushka, along with a couple of signs that spring may actually be just around the corner.

5:00 pm – PRISCAVera FW 19 Show

This was my second time supporting New York-based designer, Prisca Vera Fanchetti. Her womenswear line – fittingly dubbed, PRISCAVera – focuses on the collection of youth culture and traditional craftsmanship while reflecting an effortlessly cool attitude.

Just wait until you watch the short vid below. You’ll then catch the vibe and allure.

9:00 pm – R13 FW19 Show

Again, this was my second year of supporting a super rad brand that may fall out of the realm of my day to day style, but for which I totally appreciate. Because I was able to watch how R13 Denim helped to lift the 90s resurgence last season, I was pretty stoked about coming back for another taste of nostalgia.

Sitting in a dark warehouse downtown waiting for the show to begin, punk songs played in my mind and I thought to myself how I may just need some of the R13 rocker garb in my life starting festival season (especially the tie-dye items for spring). But, while we still have our coats on, let’s look forward to next fall/winter and their animal print mixing below.

Stay tuned as the third and final recap of scenes from the NYFW shows will soon be released…
