NYFW: Shows + What I Wore (Part 3:3)

NYFW: Shows + What I Wore (Part 3:3)

*2020 update – If by chance you’re only now reading this, then the fashion trends featured in the preview of designs below may just be the ones that have been catching your eye as of late. It’s not by chance that each season there is a shift in what’s the latest fashion. Whilebeit, some trends are influenced by the styles of yesteryear, there is an incredible amount of forecasting that goes into the launch of every new collection. This is what I find fascinating and why I feel honored to be able to share these first looks with you. So, while this post may be from 2019, it’s now more relevant than ever since this is what is in stores today. It’s sort of crazy when you stop to think about it!

12:00 pm Chelsea & Walker Brunch + FW19 Presentation

Waffles on a Sunday, great. Waffles, champagne and a side of 70s-inspired threads… now we’re talkin’.

When I stumbled upon Chelsea and Walker last year, I was instantly drawn to the unexpected spins that this contemporary fashion house softly weaves into their designs. Now, after seeing several collections come out and spending a sunny morning at the top of the James Hotel in SoHo checking out what Chelsea and Walker have planned for us come this fall, I can officially declare my obsession. You may too after seeing the vibe below.

“Expectations do not dictate how we design or who we are as a brand. We aren’t looking to define ourselves since Chelsea and Walker is ever evolving, just like the women that wear it.”

Creative Director, Jackie Yang

Once again, the name of my New York Fashion Week game during winter is layer it up! Although I’m drenched in rays from the beaming sun here, it was a particularly cold day for a rooftop hang, so I knew that I had to get creative to keep warm.

I was pumped about wearing this Chelsea and Walker silk blouse because of the folding details on the sleeves, but even with heat tech on under, it needed a topper. Ergo the slithering in of this snake-print coat covered with an old motto. The knee-grazing coat and asymmetrical skirt gently layered upon each together, while the pleated drop-panel provided a pleasingly dramatic motion when on-the-go later.

Because no outfit is complete without something a little extra, see below.

1:00 pm – Sandy Liang FW19 Presentation

If you were a fan of Gossip Girl, then you may just freak out when seeing Sandy Liang’s version of Blair Waldorf, had she lived south of 23rd street. Sandy Liang is downtown cool girl #GOALS.

The End.

The phrase ‘saving the best for last’ may just apply in this situation. My final show during this season of New York Fashion Week was Cynthia Rowley –poolside, while the snow poured from the sky outside. The venue provided a few photography challenges, but Cynthia went above and beyond with her fall/winter collection.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these scenes from the shows.

If you missed the first two, you can find them here and here.
