Just as everywhere else in the world, the weather in New York City has been a bit unpredictable lately. However, it looks like we are finally finished with bouncing in between seasons and are now moving full steam ahead into the brutally cold months. This time of year has a special name in my home. It’s been dubbed, “hibernating season,” because I am not a fan of leaving my fuzzy socks, sweats, and robe at home to go out in the cold (especially during the weekends, right?!).
But, hold the phone, there is good news for those, like me, who are opposed to cold weather. This year, fashion houses are going bigger than ever on faux furs and voluminous layers, which equates to cozy pieces that are a bit more socially acceptable than the adult onesie. Woot!
I’ve been prepping for this season by picking up several of these fuzzy outer layers, like this Maylan jacket (here). Its shaggy silhouette adds edge to my weekend wardrobe and I’ve found that by pairing it with pretty, silk blouses it makes for a fun contrasting look. This dark floral blouse with lace bib and black velvet bow (here) has just the perfect amount of femininity to balance out the fuzzy jacket drama. The weekender jacket also pairs well with distressed jeans and these affordable, eye-catching velvet lace-up booties (here).
