Now Styling: Black, White and Houndstooth

Now Styling: Black, White and Houndstooth

When I was approached to style looks for Alexandra Clancy, a luxury handbag company based in New York City, the first thought that came to mind was “details, details, details.” That’s what luxury is, right? When extra time is spent on special details the separation between average and exceptional happens.

This is exactly what Alexandra Clancy did when she took the classic houndstooth pattern and merged it with modern handbag designs in her 2016 fall/winter collection. You’ll see more of these houndstooth pieces making their guest appearances on my blog over the next few months and I couldn’t be any more excited to work them into my looks.

You see, all things black and white are right up my alley, especially as we move into wintertime. For example, take this Proenza Schouler dress – the white detail underneath the sporty pleats are so playfully mixed with the edgy slits that go around the drop-waist that they create such a thrill for me.

The attention that was dedicated to sophisticated details in both pieces is what makes these designer goods demand a higher price point. However, if designer items are not wallet-friendly at the moment, there are plenty of ways to still rock black, white and houndstooth during these cooler seasons. Below, you can see this outfit styled for day and night, as well as additional pieces that can be used to create a similar, yet more affordable, look.
