Resort Style: Solids and Statement Pieces

Airy, soft and comfortable clothing is totally my thing, so packing for a resort vacation is me basically pulling a couple of my favorite pieces and teasingly throwing a peace sign to the tight and tailored garments. I typically start with a short, black dress that can go from day to night. Some people may find the color black a bit of a strange choice for a tropical environment. But, to me, black is chic no matter where you go. Period. So, this time my little black Cami NYC dress (here) with back lace detail was the chosen one. The second item on my beach vacation packing list is always a long maxi that I can use as a cover-up when roaming around the resort and then later pair with heels for an evening lounge setting. I had a few back-of-closet maxis in mind, but then I found a new ethereal one with long, split sleeves (here) for less than $100 dollars online and had a ‘yolo’ moment.

Having two solid color pieces as main day-to-night garments means that you get to load up on colorful statement piece accessories. So, I turned to the Miami-based jewelry company Cimber Designs for a few unique, handcrafted pieces that would complete my resort vibe. I decided to layer necklaces with attention-grabbing elements such as a blue bone horn, real shark tooth, and gem pendant. I also opted for a little arm party by stacking charmed bracelets in different tropical colors. These pieces made my outfit more than just complete; they brought it to life with adventurous flavor.
