We here in NYC are still waiting for the springtime weather to bloom (sigh). If you’re also patiently waiting for spring temps, then chances are those newly purchased floral frocks have already become back of the closet wallflowers. That is until now. It’s easy to unleash your botanicals from the grips of this nagging winter weather and let your blooms thrive using these simple styling hacks.
Below, you can see how I styled this femme, floral dress from Bailey 44 five different ways. These layering hacks will help you get wears out your floral frocks now, as well as more throughout the season.

Add a touch of the warm West by mixing your spring florals with boots and a western-looking hat. Here, I’ve layered the dress over a soft jersey turtleneck and then tied the full look together with a wrap belt by Ada Collection.
[aesop_quote type=”block” background=”#282828″ text=”#FFFFFF” align=”center” size=”2″ quote=”Go Sweater Out” parallax=”off” direction=”left” revealfx=”off”]
This is legit the simplest way to seasonally transition. You’re basically making the dress look like a skirt by wearing a cropped sweater over it. I’ve found that fancy footwork is needed in this situation, as it draws the eye down away from your cozy sweater and to those blossoming signs of hope for warmer weather. This spring, the color lavender is trending bigtime so by adding a pair of kitten heel mules in the season’s ‘it’ color, you can breathe life into your wardrobe (without making a huge commitment to the trend, if you’re not a purple person).
[aesop_quote type=”block” background=”#282828″ text=”#FFFFFF” align=”center” size=”2″ quote=”Top with Denim and Add White Booties” parallax=”off” direction=”left” revealfx=”off”]
In a close tie for the most spring-like type of garment, the denim blouse and floral-printed dress were made to be married. This soft button-down makes an excellent topper when worn tied-up and is best complimented by a pair of white booties.
[aesop_quote type=”block” background=”#282828″ text=”#FFFFFF” align=”center” size=”2″ quote=”Dress Over Dress” parallax=”off” direction=”left” revealfx=”off”]The beauty in a shirt dress is that it can double as a lightweight piece of outwear. For the fourth look, I’ve taken this striped dress from the Who What Wear Collection and used it not just as a shield to block the cool, spring air from my arms but also as a fun pattern play. If you’ve been following along, you already know that I practice being matchy-matchy in moderation and recommend that you let yourself live by trying it too.
[aesop_quote type=”block” background=”#282828″ text=”#FFFFFF” align=”center” size=”2″ quote=”Grab a Straw Hat and Head Into Summer” parallax=”off” direction=”left” revealfx=”off”]
This last look is for the highly-anticipated seasonal transition into summer. During those spring-to-summer weeks (or days in our case here in New York City), I chose to celebrate my favorite time of the year by having a straw boater hat permanently placed atop of my head. When a straw hat is paired with this thin-strapped, floral frock and heeled sandals, the look feels feminine and romantic.
This post was made in collaboration with Bailey 44, however, opinions are my own.
