Take Me To Tulum

Take Me To Tulum

For way too long, a trip to Tulum sat idling at the bottom of my travel bucket list. But, since a girlfriend of mine got married in the Riveria Maya of Mexico this year, we finally had an opportunity to spend a few days down in the little rustic town, called Tulum.

After lots of champagne toasting and a post-wedding hangover brunch (btw – the resort where she had her wedding, Vidanta, had the most amazing staff and so much to do without leaving the property), my husband and I gathered up our things and journeyed deeper into the jungle.

Below, is a recap of what I packed for a little rest and relaxation at the Papaya Playa Project in Tulum. Plus, a brief share of hacks for efficient vacation packing and, of course, a lot of options for things to wear during any of your upcoming summer trips to the tropics.

PACKING FOR A TROPICAL GETAWAY

Let me just begin by saying this… I LOVE RESORTWEAR! Nothing speaks to me more than luxurious threads that are meant to be worn in warm weather climate. Nonetheless, what I don’t enjoy is carting around a bunch of stuff to tiny airports. So, over the years, I’ve come up with a few packing hacks that help with travel efficiency when vacationing in the tropics.

The first thing needed for lightweight packing is a carry-on suitcase that allows for good organization. I recently partnered with Andiamo Luggage to take this ruby red case with me on my travels this summer and to see if it would pass my rigorous test. So far, I’m happy to report that it has. The compartments inside have been very useful and the wheels smoothly glide across a variety of terrains. Another appreciated touch has been the USB charger, as I tend to always be running low on my cell phone battery these days (too many selfies?).

Next, in order to travel light, I’ve found that packing only a couple of garments that can go from day-to-night is key. For stylish resort wear that’s also super comfortable, I typically turn to my friends at Bailey 44 since they make the softest jersey dresses.

Also, I’d like to point out that having chic vacation style doesn’ mean that you have to spend a small fortune. The lace overlay romper in the below photo is from Dress Up, which offers affordable options for online shopping. All you need for adding that luxe touch is right accessories.

Below, are a few of my looks, which include day-to-night rompers and dresses, swimwear that can double as a bodysuit, and my favorite accessories for living your best resort life.
