I love hot New York City summers because they feel like Miami weather to me. Everyone else seems to complain about the scorching heat, but I just can’t get enough of it (although I will make a fuss about underground subway cabins with no air conditioning, ew!). When mercury levels are rising to the top, I just put on a light, airy dress (like this one, here) and welcome the gusts of sweltering hot, city winds.
The bright, floral print mixed with delicately draped overlays on this silk dress by 10 Crosby Derek Lam looks sophisticated and flows beautifully. Another touch that I absolutely adore is the peplum-like accent created by the ruffled panels around the waist. I even dig the double spaghetti straps being in black (that’s the New Yorker in me). In order to play up the contrasting colorful print and black combination, I decided to add a black, wrap-belt and tied it in a bow (old belt; others here, here, and here). Finally, to give that last touch of summer, I paired the bold dress with a thin, black sandal (here). This look is perfect for a party, trendy dinner or date night. Or, to dress it down for daytime, I would opt for a flat, lace-up sandal (like here, here or here).
