Spring for Fleece During Transitional Temps

Spring for Fleece During Transitional Temps

We’re all aware of the wonky weather these days. One day it can be sixty degrees and then the next Snowmageddon happens. The uncertainty of daily temperatures can drive a girl totally bonkers when outfit planning either street wear or tropical vacation ensembles. That’s why I say it’s never too early to start planning for the return of spring (especially since a glorious warm weather day could happen tomorrow!).

As I mentioned in my previous post (here), I’ve found the luxurious ‘SuperLuxe Fleece’ spring/summer collection by Bailey 44 to be so incredibly soft. During a quick jaunt down to Miami for a winter weather reprieve (stayed at the W Hotel South Beach to mix things up), I practically lived in this drop waist sweater dress with V-back detail and sheer, skirt-like bottom (here). The dress was perfect for going day to night, as cool ocean winds and post-sunset chills are a part of the city’s seasonal feels. I wore this rich navy-colored maxi with a pair of chambray slides by Matt Bernson, as it was a brunch to marina to hotel kind of weekend. However, the cozy sweater dress goes splendidly with a pair of cute espadrille sneakers (like these) and lightweight jean jacket (like this one by French Connection) when not in a tropical paradise.

I also found Bailey 44’s fleece sweatshirt with cold shoulder cut-outs (here) to be the ideal match for the cute pair of pinstriped shorts by Parker NY (here) that I picked up while at the Bloomingdale’s in Aventura (this city girl definitely takes advantage of one-stop mall shopping when possible). The combo was critical for cool morning strolls on the beach, as well as al fresco meals on the breezy bay (when in Miami you must have a healthy meal at Lido by The Standard Hotel pool deck).

Since we can no longer guarantee what the weather will be like tomorrow, opting for pieces that are lightweight yet also super soft and warm is the best way to stay prepared these days. Below you can see more of how each outfit was styled, along with other options for making it your own.
