It’s no secret that when you’re wearing an outfit that you feel good in, you have a better day. Still, as much as I love stepping out in my new favorite Tibi top and skirt (pic, here), I enjoy feeling good in my own skin even more.
This past January, I decided that it was time to start a skincare routine for my face that would nourish and revive my lack-luster outer layer. Since then, I have been using the below products regularly and have seen great improvements in the tone, hydration, and radiance of my skin. These results have yielded a boost in my confidence and have also been a time-saver in my morning routine, as I no longer feel I need to fake glowing skin with makeup tricks.
Because of this new glow, I’ve learned that investing in the nourishment of my skin is just the same as that of the rest of my body. If you want to feel good and have happy days, you’ve gotta put in the work.
Take a look at my new daily essentials for radiant skin below:
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
There’s a reason why the British are calling this skincare system the foundation of fabulous skin. The naturally active ingredients, which include rosemary, chamomile, cocoa butter and eucalyptus oil, fully remove even the toughest makeup, while moisturizing, softening, and soothing. Plus, the muslin cloth helps to gently exfoliate, leaving a healthy glow. I use this in the morning and evening. Afterwards, my skin is left feeling calm, clean and soft. Note: The kit comes with two of these reusable cloths, so you can scrub away at that hard to remove mascara without concerns.
Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
Breathing in the calming botanicals of this alcohol-free, hydrating toner has become a zen-like, daily ritual. After cleansing, each morning and evening, I use the floral-scented toner to refresh and brighten my skin. This step also leaves my skin ready to absorb the facial oils and moisturizers.
Sunday Riley Juno Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil
Facial oils have become the green juice of beauty. Models and editors can’t get enough of these antioxidant-rich oils, and the Sunday Riley brand has risen to the top. When applying this unique blend of superfood seed oils, I truly feel like I am feeding my skin the vitamins it needs to glow and stay protected. I sparingly use it twice a day, after washing and toning, to keep my skin nourished.
Sunday Riley ‘Start Over’ Active Eye Gel Cream
After a late night of trying tasty restaurant finds, I truly appreciate this eye cream. During the following mornings, I apply the cream (using the rollerball applicator, which helps with circulation) before putting on under eye concealer. I instantly see an improvement in this delicate area, as the skin feels more energized and tight. This also causes my concealer to go on more smooth, which makes fine lines less noticeable and the illusion of a more awake me (double score!).
Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid
I had my doubts about a liquid moisturizer fighting this winter’s brutal force. However, this skin-saving liquid did a great job at sealing in moisture and strengthening my skin. The super lightweight liquid has actually been refreshing to apply and I like that I only have to use a small amount. I’ll continue using the liquid throughout the summer, since I feel like it doesn’t clog my pores.
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask
This organic mask lifts away dead skin and helps showcase your smoothest, freshest glow. As needed, I’ll use it as a spot treatment, but I mostly love what it does for my entire face when applied generously all over and left on for 30 minutes. I’m so obsessed with the super radiant look that I get from it, that I apply the mask at least twice a week. I use this after toning and before applying nourishing oil — mostly in the mornings or after too much sun exposure.
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask
Yes, because I’m not getting any younger, I did include a wrinkle-fighting mask in my skincare routine. I’m newly head-over-heels for rose extract – not only does it provide the nourishment needed to make skin soft, it also reduces fine lines! So, since this girl wants to Benjamin Button, I use it twice a week as an overnight treatment.
Skin Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels
These aptly named eye gels pack a punch. They cool and reduce puffiness while firming the skin. Because they are great for zapping away any last-minute traces of tiredness, I keep these on hand as an emergency treatment before a big event. They’re also great for a quick-fix after long flights!
