I love how today’s designers are mixing a variety of skirt lengths and textures into their collections. No matter what type of personal style you have, there is a skirt out there for you this fall.
By tossing on either a mini, pencil or midi-length skirt you can easily turn up your look for any occasion. And, by opting for textures like leather or suede, you’ll be on point with today’s latest trends.
So, to start your fall/winter wardrobe transition, try mixing a variety of solid-colored skirts in various lengths, textures and cuts. This makes it easy to dip into different trends, like the mod 60’s and boho 70’s, while also creating staple items that you can wear often and use to layer on different details as the season progresses.

For fall, choose a leather mini to pair with a long sleeve top and don’t forget your ankle boots. For a refined look, try adding a sharp blouse such as a statement white shirt (think a fluffy bow or a touch of lace) and a menswear-inspired loafer. And, as the days cool down, add a long trench or duster for length contrast.

The monochromatic look happens to be one of my favorites and it gets even better as you layer on more pieces. So, layer a silk cami with a knit sweater the same hue as your skirt, and then add a leather moto jacket and a thin-strap sandal heel for a night look.

Pair with a stripped button-down or thin cashmere sweater, and cover the waistline with a sleek belt. Once temperatures have finally dropped, ditch your pumps (and tights) and opt for an over-the-knee suede boot to wear underneath.
Watch out for volume two of the Trend Report, which will cover fall/winter footwear.
