Modern day style has no rules. Well, except for one: ditch the traditional thinking. All the fun found in fashion today comes from stepping outside the box. I recently shared why I’m loving the casual pairing of t-shirts and skirts (here). So, here’s another styling hack that you may not be using. It’s called, print mixing, and it’s simple. It’s a great way to get more mileage out of your clothes because it allows for more mixing and matching. Plus, it looks fresh.
For this print mix, I blended the best of spring and summer. While this floral skirt (here) with a contrasting striped belt (from ASOS, my online go-to for affordable trendy finds) already comes with a print mix, I took it one step further by pairing it with an additional set of stripes (top, here). BTW- you could easily add a striped belt to any other floral skirt in your closet to accomplish the same look.
The rose gold shoes and pink floral bag are the cherries on top (both by Pinko). However, if you feel the need to play it a little safer, then I would stick with a neutral color for the handbag and footwear. You can always work in metallic glimmer with a pair of cool summer shades (my new favorite brand is Quay).
On a side note, I’d like to mention that I’ve never committed to wearing a watch due to the cyst on my wrist. However, after having several watch companies approach me about partnering, I finally found a stylish and lightweight watch from Timex that doesn’t bother me after several hours of wear. They have several types of light timepieces in their spring/summer collection, here.
Below you can see more of this look, as well as other prints that are perfect for pairing this summer. So, test out a print mix and let me know how it goes!
