Back when we were still finding New Year’s Eve glitter in strange places (here), I had mentioned that you’re going to want to pay attention to the details this year. In 2017, the classics get a bit of a twist and hero pieces will be statement-making. From 80’s-inspired exaggerated sleeves to flattering front ties, modern shirting is done with an unexpected take on the staple. Reinvented with eye-catching details, this popular approach is an easy way to revamp your wardrobe as we transition into a new season.
I’m all about pushing my sartorial limits and testing out new trends. However, I like to experiment with wallet-friendly pieces when dipping my toe in ocean-like fashion fads that steadily come and go. Long before I was approached for a collaboration with SheIn, an online destination featuring affordable contemporary women’s fashion for every occasion, I had already been drawn to the in-style pieces showcased on their space in the interwebs. Pretty much every designer-inspired garment that SheIn offers is at an amazingly low price so it’s hard not to spend hours style hunting on their site! Still, I must say, that the downside to getting such a super deal may be the wait time for shipping (2-3 weeks in my case). But, if you’re not in a rush, these online bargains can be an excellent find.
For this take on shirting, I picked one of their striped tops with a femme bow to pair (here) with the beloved pleated skirt. The front tie created a favorable silhouette and aligned perfectly with the flow of this metallic midi skirt. When shirting, you can easily go for a dressed up or casual look. I landed somewhere in the middle with the addition of white sneakers.
See the details of this look below, as well as more of these modern shirting pieces and pleated skirts by SheIn. Btw – the Byredo shopping bag contains one of my favorite scents that will be featured in an upcoming post so stay tuned!
