With New York Fashion Week SS18 now over, I can safely say that I made it to the other side in one piece. Which is a lot more than what can be said for the millions of people across the Caribbean and Florida who were affected by Hurricane Irma. During the first few days of NYFW shows, Irma was ripping through islands and destroying the homes of so many. My heart felt heavy. When Irma was confirmed to hit Florida, my mind became completely distracted since most of my family and friends live there.
As if these fashion-packed days and nights don’t already allow for much sleep, me being glued to CNN – while texting Irma updates to my mother who had lost power – didn’t help with the sleeplessness. I was running on pure adrenaline. Still, after repeatedly checking-in on the family and saying many prayers, I had to get my head back in the game here in New York.
Thanks to Dream Dry in Flatiron, this is exactly what I did. Below you can see a quick vlog from my final day of NYFW SS18. I attended the Hakan Akkaya show with blogger babe Ashley from @mom.juice. The energy from the show, my fresh curls from Dream Dry and the endless laughs with my gal pal got me through another fashion week.
This vlog is the first of hopefully many, as I’m looking forward to sharing a better view of my experiences through more video. My outfit details, along with ways to help those affected by Hurricane Irma, can be found down below.
Outfit details: Yellow Trench, River Island | Rouge Tee, Suburban Riot | Plaid Trousers, Brandy Melville | Shoes, Nicholas Kirkwood | Sunglasses, Tom Ford | Bag, Pinko
You can help those affected by Hurricane Irma by making a donation to the American Red Cross Hurricane Irma Relief fund. Also, you can assist those who were hit by Hurricane Harvey in Texas by donating to the American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey Relief fund.
This post was made in collaboration with Dream Dry, however, opinions are my own.
