Due to our entrepreneurial endeavors, my husband and I haven’t been traveling as much as we used to. This isn’t a complaint, since taking a big risk is actually a luxury. Having this mindset, we’ve been happily pouring ourselves into our projects and cheering each other on as we hurdle over challenges. Still, everyone needs a little rest and relaxation to recharge their batteries, so we decided to start planning a getaway for this summer. With thoughts of beaches and boats floating through my mind, I began the process with a hunt for the perfect vacation maxi dress (found it, here). Because this is always the first step, right?!
My search started with H&M since I had previously been on their site eyeing items to use in my submission for the “Breakthrough Fashion Blogger of the Year Award, by Bloglovin’ and H&M.” This was also where I found out about their new ‘conscious’ efforts (info, here) and was pleased to see their strides for a more sustainable future.
While perusing the H&M site, a few dresses with prints and bright colors initially caught my eye, but then this simple yet chic maxi spoke to my personal style. With its drawstring detailing and narrow, double shoulder straps that would show off my soon-to-be sunkissed skin, I knew I had found the perfect one! Luckily, there are a few H&M stores by our apartment, so I rushed over to the nearest one to try on this amazing find. Seconds after slipping on the light layers of crinkled chiffon (and maybe one or two happy twirls alone in my dressing room), I lined up a date with my photographer and texted the huz about my heightened excitement for our reward to ourselves.
So, thank you to Bloglovin’ and H&M for not only leading me to my new happy dress but for also giving me the opportunity to potentially be mentored by the beyond awesome Leandra Medine from Man Repeller (she gets a five-star rating)!!!
Below is a closer look at how I styled this perfect maxi for summer vacations (or weekend waterfront strolls until then), as well as affordable styling options by H&M.
