I could easily own all black and white clothing. However, over the years, I’ve grown very fond of mixing in some red. The powerful color evokes a sense of boldness, yet can still be worn in a subtler fashion when styled in small doses.
Although red is a very chic color, around the holidays its classic sensibility can be diluted with prints like snowflakes, reindeer, or a cartoon-looking old man who wears a nightcap. So in an effort to preserve the prestige of this Pantone, I refuse to adorn my body with any of the aforementioned. Oh who am I kidding?! I have plenty of cheesy holiday pajamas and I think it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Still, I reserve these outfits for family occasions inside my home. When it comes to styling a holiday look, the smart blend of classic colors like black and white with a pop of red is more desk to dinner appropriate.
Below you can see more of this red leather skirt, which I paired with a black and white button-down sweater top (it has my shoulder cut-out obsession, of course!). You can also peep on the amazing Prada booties that I snagged during the Nordstrom Designer Sale (a Black Friday super find!).
