2 Styling Tricks for Mixing-Up Your Fall Wardrobe

2 Styling Tricks for Mixing-Up Your Fall Wardrobe

Have you done the summer-to-fall wardrobe swap yet? If you have and are looking at those tired pieces from last year wondering how you’re going to make them feel new again, try breathing life into last year’s finest by mixing and matching them in fresh ways.

For this first look, I took a sweater in the primary color blue and paired it with a leopard print skirt to create some modern contrast. This styling trick is really just about thinking outside of the box. Instead of grabbing the safe matchy-matchy top, test out bold pairings instead. To further elevate a mix-up, try including metallic footwear or an extra pop of color with a bag.

Another way that I like to stir things up is by layering oversized, autumn sweaters on top of summer dresses. Below, you can see how I styled a bright red sweater over a silk, purple slip dress to color block. You can do the same with any solid-colored dress and sweater. The trick is to put the brighter color below the darker one. In this case, I took this styling hack even further by completely blocking the purple in with these over-the-knee red boots by Mango that are in a lighter red hue (and are also priced at less than $100).

Although these garments were pulled from the new fall collection at Pinko, they still provide excellent visuals for fall wardrobe mix-ups that can be created with similar pieces already in your closet. However, if you’re searching for a few new hero garments, you can find their latest styles on www.pinko.com. Also, I wore these two looks during New York Fashion Week while I was toting my camera around. If you’re looking for a lightweight, mirrorless camera that has built-in WIFI to upload images quickly while on-the-go, then take a look at the Sony A6000.

This post was made in collaboration with Pinko, however, opinions are my own.
